Message from the Executive Director: New Name, Same Mission

I am proud to announce that we have changed our name from the Fair Housing Council of Suburban Philadelphia to the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania. Our more inclusive name will better enable us to connect with consumers and housing professionals throughout our expanded service area, which includes the Pennsylvania Counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia.

And let’s face it, the Housing Equality Center is easier to say and understand! It succinctly captures our mission, which remains to lead the effort to eliminate housing discrimination through education, advocacy and enforcement of fair housing laws.

With our new name also comes a bold new look and a state-of-the-art, mobile-friendly website, equalhousing.org. The new website is easier to use and brimming with fresh, useful content. I invite you to take a few moments to look around! While you’re at it, be sure to sign up for eUpdates so you can keep abreast of the latest news, events and professional training opportunities.

Our staff remains unchanged and our old website address and email addresses will continue to be operational for the foreseeable future, but please take a moment to update your records with our new contact information, which can be found here.

Last but not least, thank you to our board of directors, staff, focus groups, consultants and supporters, all of whom were instrumental in shaping and strengthening our identity. We couldn’t have done it without you! Your tireless efforts continue to make a world of difference in the fight to end housing discrimination.

– Jim Berry, Executive Director, Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania
