Every year the National Fair Housing Alliance produces a report on housing discrimination data and trends throughout the nation. In 2023, 34,150 allegations of housing discrimination were reported to fair housing organizations, HUD, and FHAP agencies, the highest number of fair housing complaints recorded since NFHA began producing its Trends Report in the mid-1990s. The majority of these complaints (75.52 percent) were processed by private nonprofit fair housing organizations like the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania. As in past recent years, discrimination based on disability accounted for the majority (52.61 percent) of complaints filed.
