Meet our new Executive Director!

Greetings!

It is with great pleasure that I share with you that I have been selected to serve as the new executive director of the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania. Established in 1956, the center has been combating housing discrimination for 60 years, making it the oldest private fair housing organization in the United States of America. I am privileged to be a part of this historic civil rights organization. My goal is to build on its successes and continue to uphold the fair housing rights of residents of Pennsylvania.

As I start this journey, I humbly request your support to create positive changes in our communities by pursuing the following tenets: hope, faith and justice.

Hope – the belief that new opportunities and new experience can shape a better future

Faith – as we get to know each other by working and struggling together, the fruits of our labor will yield better tomorrows

Justice – that fighting for equality for all residents improves the quality of life for all of us

For those of you who do not know me, I have over nineteen years of experience working in various leadership positions at local and national for-profit and not-for profit organizations. For the past eight years, I have served as the Assistant Director of the National Neighbors, the enforcement program of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Before joining NCRC, I have held senior management positions at DB Consulting Group, Inc., Iconographx, Inc., Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center, and the National Fair Housing Alliance.

I have received extensive training as a testing coordinator from the National Fair Housing Alliance and the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in rental, real estate sales, homeowner’s insurance, and mortgage lending investigations. In addition, I have comprehensive knowledge of Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing compliance requirements for CDBG recipients and sub-recipients. I hold a B.A. in Sociology and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning. I have served as a member of the Fannie Mae Housing Impact Advisory Council and the National Fair Housing Alliance’s Board of Directors. Also, I have been a member of the national community development division and state of Louisiana American Planning Associations.

In conclusion, I am looking forward to meeting and collaborating with all persons who serve our communities. I am excited to use my skills and experience to lead this great organization to continue to do great things in the state of Pennsylvania.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey May

Executive Director
