On December 23, 2014, The Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania filed an amicus curiae brief in Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs v. the Inclusive Communities Project, a case before the Supreme Court of the United States that will determine whether disparate impact claims are cognizable under the Fair Housing Act.
I am proud to announce that we have changed our name from the Fair Housing Council of Suburban Philadelphia to the Housing Equality Center of Pennsylvania. Our more inclusive name will better enable us to connect with consumers and housing professionals throughout our expanded service area, which includes the Pennsylvania Counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia. And let’s face it, the Housing Equality Center is easier to say and understand! It succinctly captures our mission, which remains to lead the effort to eliminate housing discrimination through education, advocacy and enforcement of fair housing laws. With our
